Gender non-conforming: describes people with a gender expression or presentation that is different from cultural or social stereotypes associated with that person’s perceived or assigned gender or sex.

Non-binary: describes gender identities that are beyond the gender binary or cannot be exclusively categorized as woman or man.

Transgender (or trans): describes those with a gender that differs from the sex or gender assigned at birth.

Cisgender (or cis): describes people who exclusively identify with their sex or gender assigned at birth. This term gives us a way to own and differentiate between the experiences and traits of those who identify with their sex or gender assigned at birth and those who do not.
